The Wilhelm Tell Express links two of Switzerland’s most attractive regions: Central Switzerland and Ticino. New: Two daily connections from Central Switzerland to Ticino and in the opposite direction.

The trip starts in Lucerne as you board a nostalgic paddle steamer or motor vessel and cruise to Flüelen on Lake Lucerne in about 3 1/2 hours.

While you enjoy a hot or cold dish in the first-class restaurant, you can watch sleepy bays, picturesque villages and historic landmarks such as the Rütli and the Tellsplatte glide silently by on the starboard and port side.

In Flüelen, only a few steps away from the pier, our guests board air-conditioned, first-class panorama cars of the Swiss Federal Railways. The trip continues through the awesome Reuss Valley with its deep ravines and precipitous cliffs. The world-famous Gotthard line swiftly climbs from 470 to about 1100 metres above sea level to finally enter the 15-kilometer long Gotthard tunnel in Göschenen, Europe’s most important north/south gateway.

Countless spiral and horseshoe tunnels, galleries and bridges testify to the remarkable achievements of the men who built this masterpiece of civil engineering. Then, after the 10-minute tunnel passage, you’ll arrive in Ticino.

In the Leventina Valley, the Wilhelm Tell Express crosses breathtaking cantilevered bridges and passes charming villages on its way to Bellinzona. From here, the next leg is to Locarno or Lugano: It will be up to you to decide.

Rules

Bookings open on 1 January each year for the year.
In the case of any booking made less than 60 days prior to the date of the travel, full payment is due within 5 working days.
The Blue Train reserves the right to release any provisional bookings when the train is fully booked. The customer will be contacted to settle the amount due within 5 working days. If no payment is received after 5 working days, The Blue Train will release the booking without further notice.
Individuals and groups - 10% non-refundable, non-transferable deposit on high demand dates, due within 7 working days after confirmation.
Individual bookings, full payment is due 60 days prior to the departure date.
Groups - 5 or more suites - 25% non-refundable, non-transferable deposit 90 days prior to departure. Balance of payment 60 days prior to the departure date. 20% of the group can be released between 90 to 60 days before departure without penalty
Less than 60 days notice 100% cancellation fee
Once a ticket is purchased, a reservation may be changed for an earlier or later date without penalty, provided such change is made 60 days prior to the date of travel. Any subsequent changes will subject the passengers to payment of the usual cancellation fees according to the notice given.
The Blue Train shall not be held responsible for damage to, or loss or theft of personal luggage and belongings, nor can we be liable for personal injury, accident, illness or death.
